A Unique Brainwave Pattern
The brainwave pattern featured in Awaken the Mind is a rare brainwave pattern first identified by British researcher C. Maxwell Cade to be the integration of meditative states of consciousness with the normal, waking state in a unified state of mind.
It was identified through use of the Mind Mirror, a unique EEG created specifically for Cade’s brain research.
While he discovered that many seasoned meditators, yogi’s and spiritual adepts could produce a deep meditative pattern while meditating, he also realized that it was harder to find meditators who could maintain their profound meditative states during their normal, everyday activities.
When he was able to find such rare, highly developed individuals, they invariably exhibited this unique brainwave pattern, which Cade described as “[h]igh amplitude alpha accompanied by two side bands of about 30 to 60 percent of the alpha amplitude, continuous and of steady frequency — one at usually 16 to 18 hertz in the beta spectrum, the other usually at 4 to 6 hertz in the theta spectrum.”
(Later research uncovered additional delta brain wave activity as well.)
